At the turn from the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries, several hundreds of thousands of people dislocated by revolution and war were on the move. This chapter investigates the relations between French émigrés and exiles of previous and contemporary revolutions and expulsions on a global scale. During this Age of Emigrations, French émigrés were the largest, yet not the only group of political migrants. Analysing common interests, strategic references, and political motives, this chapter argues that collaboration and competition among migrants reinforced their political relevance and mobilised support from the host societies. A final outlook highlights how the migratory connections in the Age of Emigrations resonated in nineteenth-century French political exile.
