• The boat rested safely on land, having made the journey—presumably without mishap. At least the polyurethane casing had remained intact during the move, which seemed a good sign. We speculated as to how well the boat inside had survived the trip. There was no way of determining this until the entire package was physically in the conservation pool and we could remove the casing. I remember having an irrational fear that, when we opened up the polyurethane, the boat would have vanished.
