• In this article, the communtation relations of the generators of quantum algebra U q (C 2) are analyzed and irreducible q‐tensor operators of rank (1/2) of quantum algebra SU q (2) are constructed. By means of the property of a q‐tensor operator, finite irreducible representations of U q (C 2) can be easily obtained. Some low dimensional representations are tabulated.
