• In 1999 a chronology of major events relating to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) was published in Botswana Notes and Records (Hitchcock, 1999). Since that time there have been a number of significant events in the Central Kalahari and further data have been obtained. In this update we provide additional information on events and issues in the Central Kalahari. In late 2001 it was announced that the people still living in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve had to leave the reserve and move to settlements outside of the boundaries of the CKGR. Given the importance of this decision, we have chosen to include events that occurred as late as April, 2002.
