The metal-organic framework (MOF)-based devices and their applications in the fields of separation and sensors are reviewed in this paper. Versatile MOF materials function as integral, active and functional components in a MOF-based device on the basis of their high porosity, tailorable pores and structural flexibility. Assisted with physically functional accessories, MOF-based devices can independently accomplish some specific functions and behave like a "black box" in practice for non-experts. This short-focused article reports on recent efforts and progress in MOF-based devices with an emphasis on MOF-directed properties and their corresponding applications in separation and sensors, and identifies the challenges to be overcome.
Metal-organic framework-based devices and their applications in separation and as sensors are presented.
