• Khadjesari et al. [1] provide a timely contribution to the growing discussion of smartphone applications (apps) for addictive behaviors. While there are thousands of these apps, very few have proved efficacious [2]. Health-care delivery systems have not adopted them as legitimate treatments [3]. Consumer popularity ratings have no correlation with their level of adherence to empirically supported clinical practice guidelines [4, 5]. Khadjesari et al. [1] explore a number of approaches that could help to address these challenges, including regulatory approval and accreditation in curated online app libraries.
