• This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To assess the effects of EDA for the management of dental pain during dental anaesthesia which is associated with: a) a range of dental procedures including restorations, non‐surgical periodontal procedures, simple extractions (including extractions as part of orthodontic treatment) or treatment of dental trauma; b) administration of a local anaesthetic prior to undertaking the dental procedures listed above.
