• To evaluate efficiency of Nd: YAG-laser iridotomy in the treatment of angle closure glaucoma. 33 eyes of 22 patients were examined before and after the treatment. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured 24, 48 and 72 hours after iridotomy and then in (after) 1 and 6 months. Visual acuity, static perimetry and optic disc evaluation was performed before the treatment and after 1 and 6 months. In 90% of the eyes, 24 hours after the laser, IOP was below 22 mmHg and it was normalized during the whole follow-up. There no differences between the results of visual acuity, perimetry and optic disc evaluation before the treatment and during follow-up. Nd:YAG-laser iridotomy is an efficient method of lowering of IOP in angle-closure glaucoma.
