• Although films are commonly used in drug education programmes--and may indeed form the entire programme--there has been little research into their effectiveness. There is no evidence of the advantages of film over other methods, and in the long term, there appears to be little difference between the effects of different kinds of film. The impact of a film varies according to the characteristics of the audience. Drug education films should be more closely targeted at specific audiences.
