• Novell Inc., developer of NetWare systems software products, Wednesday announced two new after-sale programs for United States and Canadian customers, NetWare UpGrade and NetWare UpDate. These programs replace the existing NetWare Assurance program while offering NetWare users a more affordable and efficient system to manage network growth and stay current with Novell product development. NetWare UpGrade offers customers two product migration paths. The first is an operating system trade-in program that allows users to move up to a current version of their NetWare product with credit given for the earlier purchase. As an example, moving from Advanced NetWare v2.0a to Advanced NetWare v2.15 would cost US$1155, a savings of 65 percent from the US$3295 list price of Advanced NetWare v2.15. The second NetWare UpGrade program provides a similar discount structure for users moving up from one NetWare operating system family to another with greater functionality. As an example, moving from SFT NetWare v2.15 to NetWare 386 v3.1 would cost US$4745, saving almost 41 percent of the NetWare 386 v3.1 list price of US$7995. (excerpt)
