Mexico’s leader demanded a halt to brewing in the country’s drought-stricken north, blasting the business model of making alcoholic drinks with water drawn from dwindling aquifers to slake thirsts on the other side of the US-Mexico border. Mexico has become one of the world’s biggest beer exporters over the past decade thanks to the popularity of brands such as Corona, Modelo and Dos Equis. Constellation Brands denied that its brewing operations overexploited the country’s scarce water resources.
