Career management involves having control over one's business future. In out-of-control moments, the 4 Rs of career management should be considered: 1. reality, 2, rationale, 3. responsibility, and 4. resources. In the alphabet audit, letters A through I each correspond to different words or qualities. For example, A equals assets and action, B equals balance, and C equals competitive, competence, and connections. Each letter then is compared with the 4 Rs. While A represents assets and action on the audit list, the 4 rs may represent A as follows: reality equals anxiety or other people's agendas, rationale equals adventure, autonomy, and ambition, and responsibility equals analyzing assets, assessing actions, and being assertive. When the alphabet list is complete, the 10 most important words should be singled out and one or 2 chosen as specific goals to work on.
