My article, Improving Your Profitability Pattern, appeared in the September 2002 issue of FOUNDRY Management and Technology. A study of 32 different Midwestern gray and ductile iron foundries, it reviewed why some were highly profitable while others were only marginally so. That study sparked many additional questions from readers who asked how they could develop the employee commitment and enthusiasm that helped spark the high profitability of some foundries.
