• AT the meeting of the Jockey Club held at Newmarket last week, it was proposed by Mr. Alexander, and seconded by Captain Lane, "that after the year 869 all selling races shall be conducted as at present observed at Newmarket, and from that date selling by auction shall be discoutinued. Any horse being entered in contravention of this rule to be disqualified from running wherever the Newmarket rules are in force." On a division this resolution was carried by 14 to 5.
