• A brief commentary on Resian evidence obtained from a native speaker, Anna Pusca Zekava, in interviews that began in the 1970s. It is an inflectional paradigm for the singular, dual, & plural forms of pegnt 'stone, cliff,' which was constructed & published earlier (Hamp, 1993). All the forms were collected over a series of meetings & occurring in natural sentences without attracting attention to the word in question. The pertinence of this evidence to the Indo-European etymology of Slavic words for stone is explored, addressing also the issue of a possible relationship between stone, as pebble or gravel, & mountain, as rock or cliff.
