Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • The success of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the European Council is mainly due to its common competence level scale. These levels do contribute to establishing norms in Europe which however require reliable procedures to ensure the language exams & certifications match those levels. But we face several dangers in the process: the definition of the levels relies on a conception of teaching & learning which, if not well-known, undermines the efficiency of the use of the scale of levels; the richness of the CEFR chapters is far more important for the future of language teaching than the mere scale of levels, notably through the ways opened by an original definition of multilingualism. It is essential not to limit the contribution of the CEFR to the standardization process of evaluation procedures. References. Adapted from the source document
