• Old Frisian words attested in the Latin versions of Old Frisian legal codes preserved in two Hunsingo manuscripts (De Eerste en de Tweede Hunsinger Codex [The First and Second Hunsingo Codex], Hoekstra, J. [Ed], The Hague, 1950) are examined & some related issues are discussed: the chronology of Old Frisian legal codes written in the vernacular, the rationale for Latin versions of such codes, words of Germanic origin but with Latinized forms, the translational techniques applied in the rendition of Frisian vernacular words into Latin, & translational difficulties.
