• The lessons learned during World War II with regards to injuries in and about the pharynx have opened our eyes to new approaches to provide opportunities for resection of tumors under direct vision and control of the subsequent bleeding. It has also allowed us to reconstruct extensive defects of the dura in the middle and anterior cranial fossa with long term survival of the patient.
