• English Surveys the German sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider's late career and the surprisingly limited nature of his posthumous influence on sculpture and sculptors in Würzburg. Discusses his collaboration with and reliance on his workshop assistants and pupils in the execution of many of his late works. Notes the importance of the political and military events of 1525, an important episode in the Peasants' War. Highlights Riemenschneider's influence on the career of his pupil Peter Dell the Elder.
