Beschreibungen/Notizen
Fragments of small intestine were transplanted under the kidney capsule in syngenic mice. Intestinal crypts were observed in 1-, 3-, 6-, 9-, and 30-day-old transplants. Beginning with the 6th day after transplantation the epithelial cysts occur in transplants. The epithelium in transplants can proliferate as judged from the presence of mitotic figures and 3H-thymidine-labeled cells. The distribution of proliferating cells in crypts in transplants differs from that in normal intestine in situ. Transplantation of fragments of small intestine in syngenic animals is suggested as a model for studies on factors regulating cell proliferation in the intestine.
