- A study was designed to evaluate normal dietary choline intake in a healthy, elderly population of 258 volunteers, with a mean age of 72. The possible relationships of choline intake to blood choline levels and to cognitive functions were explored. No association was found between dietary choline intake and the mean serum choline of 13.16 micromolar, nor between serum choline levels and cognitive function. Further, while serum choline levels increased with age, no significant difference in serum choline levels was observed between elderly men and women. (wz)
