Twelve avian reovirus strain 176 proteins, 10 structural (λ1, λ2, λ3, μ1, μ2/μ2C, σ1, σ2, σ3, and σ4), and 2 nonstructural (μNS and σNS) were identified and characterized by electrophoretic analysis of purified virions and infected cell lysates. Three of the identified proteins (μ1, μNS, and σ4) have not been previously described. In pulse-chase experiments, 10 of the proteins (λ1, λ2, λ3, μ1, μ2, μNS, σ1, σ2, σNS, σ3) were shown to be primary translation products, whereas μ20 was shown to be a post-translational cleavage product of μ2.
