The article presents results of a research on skilled migration that was carried out with Spanish female expatriates in Mexico City. From a gender perspective, the article analyzes work experiences & processes of negotiation within the household for a group of highly- skilled professional women who "accompany" their husbands (or partners) in a family migration to Mexico. Instead of viewing these women as mere passive agents, the article examines the ways how these female migrants are able to re-elaborate strategies to face up new challenges as women, workers, wives and/or mothers in the destination country. Finally, it explains their everyday activities & geographical perceptions of Mexico City which is generally perceived as potentially dangerous. Adapted from the source document.
