• A case is reported of a heterotopic liver in the left supradiaphragmatic position, without any connection to the main organ, and a review of the pertinent literature is presented. A similar location of heterotopic liver has not been recorded previously. Our view concerning the developmental anomaly is presented. The difficulty of establishing the clinical diagnosis makes operative exploration necessary to differentiate this lesion from tumors of the diaphragm and pleura. Because of the presence of a pedicle that may undergo torsion, it is believed that the condition may not always follow a benign course.
