• A real-time physiological signal database system has been developed on a Sun Sparcstation running X-Windows. It acquires the signals, stores them into the database, and displays them back on the computer screen all in real-time. To increase the speed of data retrieval, an index field has been added to the relational database tables. Compared with the approach using the Sybase software, our method is simpler, faster, and more cost effective. We have also applied a new method to display physiological signals in real-time at 200 Hz sampling rate on an X-Window screen. It does not loss any data points and reduces screen flicks.
