• Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc. successfully completed the first full system chemical decontamination of an operating commercial nuclear power plant. The feat involved the company's Indian Point 2 pressurized water reactor plant in Buchanan, NY. The dilute solvent AP/Can-Derem was used to remove the radioactive metal-oxide layer formed on the reactor coolant system surfaces. A temporary decontamination process system was also used to feed the chemicals into the plant and accept and process the decontamination waste stream.
