Thrombus Precursor Protein and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndromes Jessica L. Mega, David A. Morrow, James A. de Lemos, Satishkumar Mohanavelu, Christopher P. Cannon, Marc S. Sabatine Thrombus precursor protein is used to measure the penultimate product in the formation of fibrin, and in this study of patients post-acute coronary syndrome, increased levels of the marker were associated with an increased risk of death or ischemic complications (hazard ratio 1.45, p < 0.001). This analysis suggests that a marker of active coagulation, such as thrombus precursor protein, could add independent and incremental prognostic information in patients presenting across the spectrum of acute coronary syndrome.
