  • The purpose of this study was to explore Aboriginal nurses’perspectives for the reasons for the high rate of pregnancy in Aboriginal adolescents. Participants were recruited from Aboriginal nursing staff in eastern Taiwan. Data was collected using intensive individual interviews and focus groups. Content analysis was used to analyze the data; this yielded six themes. These were restructuring of the family, communication difficulties, changes in social norms, discontinuity of school teaching, misuse of information, and vicious cycle. Based on the findings, it was found family, school, and society all play an important role in Aboriginal adolescent pregnancy. Nursing researchers can contribute their efforts on design intervention programs to help Aboriginal adolescents. How to train and cooperate with Aboriginal nurses to execute these programs are also needed for further nursing research.
