The topic is divided into a consideration of works treating (1) race & its sci'fic meaning, esp Mendelian genetics, theories of racial origin, & work on diff's in intelligence & ability among races, (2) causes of prejudice, noting G. Allport's 6 basic approaches to the study of prejudice formation, & R. L. Hamblin's 9 plausible antecendent variables r'ed with the 'tendency to discriminate,' (3) Negroes & desegregation, reviewing periodicals & books dealing with this area, & (4) other minorities, including Jews, Catholics, & the assimilation process in the US.
