Time perspective & orientation toward the future by African school children were analyzed from 1,060 written compositions entitled 'Future Prospects of My Life.' The sample (number of cases = 754 boys, 306 girls) was drawn from 11 schools, grades 5-12, in Liberia, West Africa. Twelve main categories were found following content analysis of the papers. 'Education & profession' & 'founding one's own family' ranked first (38.82%) & second (18.75%) as most important interests for both sexes. Thematic structure of orientation toward the future seems relatively independent of culture. Modified HA.
