Recommended reforms in the educational approach of South African sociologists are outlined from a viewpoint outside the discipline. Criticisms commonly leveled at the academic sociological establishment are reviewed, including an overemphasis on scientific objectivity & a lack of sensitivity to changing societal values; the specifically European bias in South African sociology is also criticized. The need for educators to relinquish their stance of neutrality & become more active in African social problem-solving is stressed. Modified HA.
