• The article presents an analysis of the strategy of the Portuguese government for maximizing the position of the Portuguese economy within the market paradigm of the EU. The government's strategy is politically integrated, with the goal of increasing the competitive viability, throughout the EU, of as many sectors of the Portuguese economy as possible. In order to achieve this goal, the strategy first attempts to maximize the efficiency of each economic sector domestically. These sectors include every industry & technology that is related to what has come to be known as the information society, as the government considers this area to be one of the most important in terms of the rest of the EU. The article discusses political, cultural, & territorial issues within the context of the government's economic strategy. R. Young
