A discussion of the Internat'l Sociol'al Assoc (ISA) is presented, by the Secretary General, 1963-67, with the hope of establishing a dialogue about the Assoc's activities, in 3 sections. (1) The ISA and Other International Organizationsbriefly considers the relations between the ISA &, esp, UNESCO, from which it receives financial aid, as well as the Internat'l Soc Sci's Council & other sociol'al groups. (2) Fields of Activity-the major areas of activity of the ISA are world congresses, publications, & res committees. Previous congresses that have been held & res done are considered, as well as the publication La Sociologie Contemporaine (Current Sociology). Problems arising from the structure & activities of the ISA are noted. (3) Remarks and Suggestions-notes that a major problem is the fostering of direct contacts between the org & its members, which are primarily instit's & nat'I & regional assoc's. A simple, directly-distributed bulletin is suggested to supplement the more formal publications. A strengthening of the permanent res committees is also thought to be desirable. Res done cooperatively should ultimately replace confrontation of standpoints. (See SA 0206/D6715.) Modified AA.
