• The increased importance of labor mobility (LM) in econ & socio'al literature suggests the desirability of more extensive examination of the content of this concept. The term 'LM' is used in a wide variety of senses. It refers to many types of movement, whose volume, character, consequences & involved motivations may be diff. The main features of several types of LM are described: indust'al, occup'al, inter-firm, transfer, migration, commuting, soc, & participation. In the inter-war yrs, the approach for the study of all types of LM was essentially macro-econ; the main purpose was to determine the volume & general characteristics of the movements. Since the end of the WWII a micro-sociol'al & psychol'al approach has been developed (case-studies). The aims & possibilities of both approaches are discussed. AA.
