  • This article investigates the question in how far novices differ from experienced social workers as far as job-stress, coping resources, and job-specific well-being are concerned. In a questionnaire study workers in child and youth welfare (N = 183) were compared with students of social work in their practical semester (N = 59). In line with our hypotheses, the two groups differed only in the quality of job-stress and their coping resources but not in their job-specific well-being. These differences will be discussed regarding the quality of the education of social workers and of their practical work. Adapted from the source document.
