  • Analyzes the two strategies of extraversion that dominated the past few years, namely, democracy & war, which match the suggested model whereby sovereignty in Africa is implemented through the creation & management of dependence. The role played by strategies of extraversion is described in the way that relationships between sub-Saharan Africa & the rest of the world are portrayed. Two assertions of doubtful validity used in academic, political, & journalistic circles as established facts are criticized. Six major formalities of action recurring in Africa's relation with the world throughout the 20th century are provided. It is concluded that the future of sub-Saharan Africa remains open, & that the only certainty about the future of Africa concerns its insertion into the international system. 53 References. E.
