Describes an effective intergenerational program in upstate New York & the depth & range that account for its success. The project's central objective is to furnish resonant experiences that may improve young students' attitudes toward elders, but a number of secondary aims are met as well. The program offers enjoyable, creative, & direct instruction in writing personal narratives, biographies, & plays in addition to interviewing, conversation, & public address. Students also perform historical research involving primary sources, & use math & science principles. Throughout, fourth-grade students of diverse abilities & racial & socioeconomic backgrounds engage with elders from a local continuing care retirement community (CCRC). 1 photograph. K. Coddon
