This book compares experiences of migrant Filipina in two metropolitan areas -- Rome & Los Angeles -- to show that Filipina domestic workers are truly the "servants of globalization." The book examines citizenship issues, reasons for migration, the struggles behind the maintenance of transnational family ties, & the ways in which the migrant Filipina manage their feelings of dislocation & isolation. The book also discusses the social positioning of domestic workers & class disparity issues. The final chapter looks at the similarities that exist between the personal experiences of Filipina migrant workers in Rome & in Los Angeles.
