• This text is organized around the author's view that interactionism is a central component of general sociology. The first chapter defines interactionism & then argues that sociologists seem unaware of the fact that the discipline is becoming progressively more interactionist. Chapters two, three, & four respectively look at G. H. Mead's theory of time & social order, Herbert Blumer's theory of industrialization & social change, & Robert Park's theory of human ecology. Chapters five through seven outline empirical studies that offer examples of research based on interactionist concepts & theory, while chapters eight through 10 are narratives. The book's concluding chapter once again examines the relationship between interactionism & sociology. 632 References. K. A. Larsen
