- Writings of Asian American women and a study of ethnic identity politics and feminist ideological conjunctions reveal that this literature was the spring board for masculinist beliefs and feminist retaliation. They are indicative of the attempts to resituate the subject between the frequently contradictory interests of ethnic and gender identity. Maxine Hong Kingston's 'The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood among Ghosts' and Korean American Kim Ronyoung's 'Clay Walls' expose the unique interests of such women's portrayals at a time when counterpatriarchal and counterracist theories contradict each other.
