Many kinds of Anti-Personal (AP) landmines consist of plastic which is unable to be detected by using a conventional metal detector. The development of landmine detection system has been performed by using backscattering neutron method [1]. The problem of this method is how to determine the existence of landmine by detecting backscattering neutrons. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to arrange the detection system with high efficiency for detecting the landmine. In the beginning of this study, the detailed objectives are as follows: 1) to fmd the best condition of backscattering neutron detection by changing the parameters of the landmine detection system, including detector position depending on the depth and size of the target. 2) Investigating the contribution of fast and thermal scattered neutron by using a cadmium cover.
