The passage tomb complex at Carrowkeel/Keshcorran is one of the four major examples that survive as significant landscapes of the Irish Neolithic. The other three, at Bru na Boinne, Loughcrew and Carrowmore, have either full-time or seasonal OPW guides, but Carrowkeel is the most remote and least protected of the group. Access is from a cul-de-sac that ends at a long farm track. While it used to be possible to drive up to the nearest car park/turning area, 160m from Cairn G, this farm track has deteriorated in recent years. Thus it is unlikely that visitors would stumble across the passage tombs without understanding their significance.
