Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • In the United States, lung cancer is the third most prevalent cancer and the main cause of cancer death. In people who are at high risk for developing lung cancer, screening with k>w-dosc computed tomography lowers mortality (2, 3). The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force advises persons aged 30-80 with a smoking history of at least 20 packs per year who are currently smoking or have quit within the preceding 15 years to undergo an annual low-dose computed tomography screening. Although LCS eligibility requirements and coverage have recently been expanded to include Medicare beneficiaries, LCS uptake rates are still low and there is a large geographic variation in use. Shared decision making (SD.M) is a crucial component of LCS, according to clinical practice guidelines, however the effects of SDM are unclear.
