• The angular dependence of the in-plane transverse magnetization of an untwinned single crystal state of LaBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7- delta is studied in the Meissner state as a function of temp. and magnetic field. The amplitude of the Fourier component of the signal with angular period is smaller than the theoretical predicition for a d-wave pairing state, and is consistent with isotropic pairing, without ruling out nodeless anisotropic pairing states.
