  • Recently various laws have been arranged in relation to recycling. Kawasaki Steel introduced technology from Thermoselect Co. in Switzerland in 1997, and constructed a facility with capacity of 150 t/dayx2 under assistance of NEDO (New Energy Development Organization) and conducted operation of more than 130 days in total with cooperation with Chiba Prefecture and Chiba City in 1999. The New Energy Grand Prize was awarded in 2000. Currently facilities are in operation in Japan Recycle Co. Features of the process are non-evolution of dioxin and flying ashes, recycling of wastes, recovery of clean gas, and total cost reduction. The process is constituted of 4 steps, a pressing and de-gasification channel, high temperature reaction furnace, purification of gas, and water treatment and salt production. A paper reports the verification test applied to the treatment of general city wastes.
