Beschreibungen/Notizen
The global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease report notes that enhancing patient survival is a key aspirational objective for COPD, which continues to be a leading cause of death worldwide (I). Statistically substantial effects on all-cause mortality have been observed in two recent clinical trials, although the reliability of these results and their therapeutic applicability are still debatable. Better data are not expected to become available, so we must base our decision on the evidence that is already available. When seen holistically, the findings demonstrate that medication reduces mortality among patients with more serious disease who are at risk of exacerbations.
