• The assessed Pu--U phase diagram is given. The Pu-rich region is also given. The diagram, constructed from thermal, dilatometric, metallographic, and X-ray diffraction data, includes four eutectoid reactions, five peritectoid reactions, nine allotropes, and two binary phases. The mutual solubility of epsilon Pu and gamma U is complete, although the temperature range for solubility is very small, between 30-40 at.% uranium. An unusual feature of the diagram is the simultaneous occurrence of minima in both the solidus and liquidus temperatures. The Pu--U system over the entire range of composition was also studied. Selected transition points of the Pu--U system are listed. 24 ref.--AA
