In this paper the author reports an unusual rf behavior of YIG film. The structure used in the experiment differs from the usual structure of YIG-film-tuned filters as follows: the bias magnetic field is parallel to the plane of the film and is oriented along the bisector of the angle between the planes of two coupling rings. The main points of the phenomena observed are as follows: (1) The relative power curves in response to the bias magnetic field are almost the same one with a single peak. (2) The part of the curve is linear in the left-hand side of the peak, and the other part in the right-hand side is exponential. (3) All the field values corresponding to the peak at various frequencies from 5 to 200 MHz are almost identical; they are 55 Oe. The author considers that this behavior is caused by the alternate extension-contraction and swinging movement of magnetization under the united action of the bias and rf fields, and this behavior may be used to make both linear and logarithmic electrically tuned attenuators at a wide frequency band from 5 to 200 MHz.
