On March 9, 2020, the Governor of New Jersey declared a state of emergency and a public health emergency to contain the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. New Jersey became the #2 “hotspot” of the pandemic in the entire country, and our Medical Center has taken on the colossal challenge of caring for COVID-19 patients in unprecedented numbers. Since March 13, 2020, the ACS has published several detailed guidelines regarding surgical care.
