  • With funds diat were still relatively modest, occasionally supplemented by government grants, the museum assembled a representative collection of 20th-century art that was to become one of the most important of its kind in the world. In 2003, Maja Sacher's granddaughter, Maja Oeri, used the Laurenz Foundation not only to establish the Schaulager, an exhibition and storage space for works in the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation that cannot be displayed in the Kunstmuseum or the Museum of Contemporary Art, but also to donate the former National Bank building that adjoins the Kunstmuseum in the St. Alban-Graben. By transferring the library, administrative offices and the university's Seminar of Art History, the Kunstmuseum has gained additional exhibition space in the main building as well as attractive public areas, thus keeping abreast with the challenges of a new museum landscape. Without knowing who Ovid is, the latter provide the poet with nourishment and show him the respect and support that he lacked in his own world. [...]Ovid, finding himself in the most humiliating circumstances - indicated by his bed which is simply bare earth - is held in the highest regard by the barbarian society.
